Chapter 17 Underground Duel Arena
Chapter 17 Underground Duel Arena
The next day, in the morning
Lu Hao continued to familiarize himself with the sword techniques and the large ring sword as usual, while also looking forward to the test his mother had mentioned.
In the afternoon, I received a call from my mother.
As soon as I arrived outside the house, I saw a pink Maserati in front of me. This was my mother's car, which my father bought for her to commemorate their tenth wedding anniversary.
He opened the car door and skillfully sat in the passenger seat.
"Mom, where are we going?"
"You'll understand when you get there. Don't blame your mother for being heartless. No one there will know your identity. I'll make them treat you like a top student from Wuhan University. Even so, do you still want to go?"
Although Bai Qiuyao spoke coldly, she was filled with worry in her heart.
"I will not give up. This is the path I chose, and I will definitely walk it to the end."
Seeing Lu Hao's determined gaze, Bai Qiuyao didn't say anything more. Anyway, with her looking after him, nothing unexpected would happen.
……
The car drove all the way to the outskirts of Shanghai.
Finally, the car stopped at the entrance of a large compound.
"Alright, let's get off here. This is the stop."
Upon hearing this, Lu Hao immediately got out of the car to observe. The area was quite desolate, a far cry from downtown Shanghai, and farmland could be seen nearby. The car was parked in a large courtyard, not a high-rise building, but the courtyard itself was quite spacious.
However, nothing could be seen from the outside, but there was a burly man standing on each side of the gate, and you could tell from their appearance that they were not to be trifled with.
The burly man opposite didn't say much when he saw Lu Hao get out of the car. He just glanced at him a few times, but stopped looking at him after Bai Qiuyao got out of the car.
"Let's go inside."
As Bai Qiuyao spoke, she led Lu Hao inside. She didn't show any credentials, and the two burly men didn't stop her. It seemed they knew her mother.
As they walked deeper into the compound, Bai Qiuyao stopped in front of a guarded door.
He asked the burly man guarding the opposite side.
"Is there a do-or-die battle today?"
The burly man glanced at Lu Hao's youthful face and grinned, "Yes, tickets are 1 per person! When did Director Bai start training newcomers?"
Bai Qiuyao responded to him, casually tossing him an ordinary Qi and Blood Pill.
The other person glanced at it, nodded slightly, and said, "Go in!"
And so Lu Hao followed Bai Qiuyao to this so-called place of trial.
Once inside, Lu Hao discovered that it was a completely different world. It wasn't as small as it looked from the outside, and they were now going down, which meant that the main part of the place was underground, while the above-ground part was just a cover.
After turning several times and passing through several doors, Lu Hao finally heard a commotion ahead.
"Mom, where is this place? Now that we're here, you don't need to hide it anymore, right?"
Lu Hao asked curiously.
"This is an underground dueling arena where all sorts of martial artists fight; you're sure to learn a lot from it."
"Um...Mom, isn't this illegal?"
Lu Hao looked at Bai Qiuyao beside him, as if to say, "How can you, the director of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, not crack down on crime?"
"No, this place is semi-public and semi-underground. There are also people from our Detective Bureau inside. There are quite a few conflicts between martial artists, and we don't encourage fighting to the death in public."
"Thus, these places came into being. Those with grudges, those with hatred, those who want to make money, those who want to gain experience, and those who want to see blood all come here. This has also become the last stop for many martial arts students before they embark on their missions."
"Therefore, considering that these places are safer and allow those martial arts prodigies to see blood, our Detective Bureau will not be taking action here this time."
Lu Hao nodded. So that's how it is. It's a place specifically reserved for martial arts students to draw blood, and it also allows restless martial artists to settle their disputes here.
Just then, Lu Hao heard it more clearly; a sound came from ahead.
"Kill him! Iron Fist, kill him now!"
"Useless trash, get up! I bet you 500,000, get up now!"
"Haha, my Iron Fist is unstoppable!"
Hearing the sounds ahead, Lu Hao was prepared, but he was still quite nervous.
"You won't be playing for the next couple of days. You'll just be here watching their matches, seeing the blood and gore, and gaining experience. Once you're used to it, you'll have to go on stage for real matches."
Lu Hao nodded. His kill points were almost depleted. If he didn't replenish them, how would he survive? So, although Lu Hao was nervous, he wasn't too nervous. He would be able to bring himself to kill the opponent if he treated them like pigs to be slaughtered.
The two crossed a threshold and were greeted by a huge arena surrounded by stands.
Lu Hao looked over and saw that the stands were full of shouting spectators, men, women, young and old, after all, they could see the most primitive battle here.
Lu Hao looked towards the arena and saw two people fighting, but one of them had already been knocked to the ground and seemed to have no power to resist.
The martial artist opposite showed no sign of stopping. Instead, amidst the shouts of the surrounding spectators, he delivered a full-force blow to the opponent's head, instantly causing flesh and blood to explode.
Looking at the scene before him, Lu Hao felt a wave of nausea wash over him. Although he had seen many pigs die like this at his hands, this was a human being in front of him.
It would be physically and psychologically uncomfortable for any normal person to see someone beaten to death right in front of them.
A bloody smell wafted out; most people would probably have vomited just from smelling it.
However, Lu Hao still didn't vomit. After all, the smell of blood in the slaughterhouse was even stronger. Lu Hao was now very glad that he had spent a month in the slaughterhouse. He couldn't say that he was completely unaware of the smell of blood, but at least he could tolerate it.
Bai Qiuyao glanced at Lu Hao beside her and was surprised to see that he hadn't vomited. However, Bai Qiuyao didn't say anything, since if he couldn't even accept this, he definitely couldn't become a martial artist.
"Let's go. This is a life-or-death arena, so it's normal for people to die. Spend the next two days getting familiar with the place, then start with some regular matches, and finally, we'll have the life-or-death arena again."
"Once you've completed this entire process, I won't stop you from taking on any more missions."
"Don't worry, Mom, I'll definitely pass."
As Bai Qiuyao spoke, she led Lu Hao towards the backstage area.
After walking a few steps, we arrived at the backstage area, where a middle-aged man with an imposing presence was already waiting.
"What brings Director Bai here? I knew something good must have happened today. It's a great honor to have you here."
"Stop talking nonsense"
Bai Qiuyao had no intention of engaging in idle chatter and spoke crisply and clearly.
"He used the same methods you use to target the most talented martial arts students on himself."
"Him? Okay, then let him go collect corpses for two days first," the middle-aged man opposite said.
"Come on, Xiao Li, take this young man to the morgue. If anyone dies later, have him go up and collect the body. Oh, and leave him to watch the morgue alone."
Just then, a young man jogged over.
Listening to the middle-aged man's arrangements, Lu Hao thought, "Wow, that's really ruthless. Sending people to check on the body and collect it." He glanced at his mother again and saw that she was already sitting to the side, no longer saying a word.
Lu Hao gritted his teeth and followed the young man to the back.
