Chapter 375 Teacher VS Farm Owner
Chapter 375 Teacher VS Farm Owner
Lin Feng nodded slightly, his expression solemn, and said nothing more.
Park Ji-won's gaze fell on Rule Two. After a moment's thought, he began to analyze:
"I think the saying 'No dreams before sleep, write down and burn if you do dream' is correct."
Freud once said that dreams are the fulfillment of wishes and the expression of unconscious desires.
"Having no dreams, or recording and burning them, is equivalent to completely cutting off distracting thoughts and selfish desires, which perfectly matches the theme of 'quiet meditation' here."
Dave's eyes lit up, and he couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow, impressive, bro! You even understand this kind of theory. What do you do for a living?"
Park Ji-won smiled slightly, a rare hint of pride in his expression: "I am a middle school teacher."
"No wonder he's so cultured."
Park Ji-won asked curiously, "And what about you?"
"Me? I'd say I'm a small farmer." Dave scratched his head.
Park Ji-won immediately nodded in praise: "Being a farmer is great. They are down-to-earth and produce food. It is a very practical and meaningful profession."
Dave seemed pleased with the compliment, chuckled twice, and then turned to Lin Feng with a serious expression:
"Brother Lin Feng, what do you think of the second rule—is it right or wrong?"
Lin Feng raised an eyebrow, his tone flat: "Logically speaking, Park Ji-won's analysis makes sense."
This sounds like agreement, but it doesn't convey any sense of affirmation.
Vassim, standing to the side, silently rubbed the short stubble on his chin.
He had been Lin Feng's partner for a long time and knew his habits all too well.
When someone truly agrees, they will confirm it directly. Such ambiguity usually indicates that they have a different judgment in mind, but they don't want to point it out in public.
Park Ji-won then pointed to rule three:
[A perpetual lamp hangs beside the door of each cell. It must be lit when going to sleep and must not be extinguished throughout the night; if the lamp goes out, the person is in danger.]
"This one should be true." He analyzed in a deep voice, "Darkness at night is the easiest place for strange things to breed. The ever-burning soul lamp is obviously used to suppress evil spirits and protect the living. Once it is extinguished, it is equivalent to directly exposing the flaw."
Lin Feng nodded slightly: "That's right. Moreover, keeping the lights on all night is more difficult and requires stronger constraints. This kind of high-cost, high-risk rule is obviously more in line with the logic of ghost stories."
All eyes immediately fell on Rule Four.
Park Ji-won's brows furrowed instantly upon reading the contents, and his expression darkened.
"Swallow a gray spider alive? That's disgusting! How could anyone eat that!"
Wasim remained silent, his sharp gaze slowly sweeping across the four corners of the room.
The room was surprisingly clean; there wasn't even a single cobweb to be seen in the corners or under the bed.
"I'm going out to take a look."
After he finished speaking, he pushed open the door and walked out of the dormitory, taking a short walk around the corridor.
A moment later, Vassim pushed the door open again, holding two small spiders between his fingers.
The gray spider looked very ordinary, only the size of a fingernail, and its body was light gray. It looked like an ordinary little spider in the corner of the wall.
Wasim looked up at Lin Feng: "This thing... is it really edible?"
Lin Feng nodded slightly, his tone calm: "If I'm not mistaken, it should be able to remove any potential contamination from the temple."
After saying that, he took a gray spider from Wasim's fingertip, didn't even look at it, threw it directly into his mouth, chewed it lightly and swallowed it, without changing his expression at all, as if he had just eaten a grape.
Seeing this, Wasim didn't hesitate for long, picked up the other one, closed his eyes, and swallowed it in one gulp.
Dave watched in stunned silence, his fat face twitching.
"No...you...you're eating this already?!"
Park Ji-won's facial features were tightly scrunched up, as if he had bitten into a sour lemon.
Lin Feng chuckled lightly: "Otherwise what? Deep-fry, steam, plate it up, and then eat it?"
Dave suddenly gave a thumbs up, his face full of admiration:
"Awesome, no wonder you're a master! I'm impressed!"
He gritted his teeth, ran out the door, groped around along the wall in the corridor for a while, caught a gray spider, closed his eyes, threw it into his mouth, and swallowed it whole.
For a moment, only Park Ji-won remained motionless in the room.
Dave's eyes widened immediately:
"Park Ji-won, don't cause any trouble! If you get contaminated and it affects us, we might just kick you out of the dorm!"
Park Ji-won's face turned ugly. Forced into a corner, he could only leave with a livid expression and bring back a gray spider.
He held the spider, his fingers trembling. He took several deep breaths before suddenly tilting his head back and swallowing it whole, forcing himself to swallow it. After swallowing, he covered his mouth, almost vomiting.
When Dave saw his disheveled appearance, he immediately laughed and couldn't resist teasing him:
"We're in a godforsaken place now, so stop putting on that teacher's airs!"
"Eat shit if you're supposed to, drink piss if you're supposed to. Being civilized is useless here; it'll only hasten your death!"
Park Ji-won's face flushed red, both ashamed and angry, and she said in a fit of rage:
"Vulgar and disgusting! Typical farmer, all they do is spew crude language!"

Studio:
"Good grief, they've already started fighting before they've even settled into their dorm room?"
"I laughed so hard, the teacher and the farmer were going at each other, the show was hilarious."
"I love watching this kind of internal strife. I like it when there's a lot of fighting."
"I suggest welding it to this dorm room; then there'll be something to watch every day."
........................
Just then, a clear, ethereal voice slowly descended from the ceiling of the dormitory:
"All novice practitioners, please put on your practice robes immediately and proceed to the Zhaixin Hall for your meal."
It was Xia Ning's voice.
Dave rubbed his rumbling stomach, his face beaming with joy:
"Ah, finally dinner's served! I'm starving!"
The four of them picked up their monk's robes.
Lin Feng unfolded his clothes and put them on neatly.
He wore a loose gray monk's robe with subtle patterns embroidered on the collar and cuffs. The waist was cinched, making his figure appear tall and neat.
Wasim followed closely behind, his broad shoulders and thick waist supporting his robes with a steady and powerful presence.
Park Ji-won's shirt was stained with a lot of dark brown blood. He frowned and looked disgusted, but he had no choice but to put it on hastily despite the discomfort.
The funniest one was Dave.
It took him a lot of effort to put on the slightly too-small monk's robe, the fabric clinging tightly to his round body.
Dave sucked in his stomach and barely managed to move, muttering complaints under his breath:
"If they keep tightening like that, I'll pass out before I even get to eat!"
Park Ji-won scoffed, "Then eat less, it'll help you lose weight."
Dave glared at him and retorted without any politeness:
"So what if I'm fat? The more I eat, use, and produce, the more domestic demand I generate for the country might look better than the numbers on your payslip!"
........................
The Zhaixin Hall remained dark and cold.
The four bronze mirrors reflected the shadows of people, and the flickering light of the butter lamps stretched the shadows of everyone into varying lengths and overlapping layers.
Upon entering, Lin Feng subconsciously looked up at the north wall, his brow furrowing slightly.
When Xia Ning was showing them around earlier, there was clearly only one food pick-up window on the north wall, but now three have appeared out of nowhere, lined up in a row.
"What happened? There was only one window just now," Vassim muttered in a low voice.
Dave scratched his cheek and casually guessed:
"Is it possible... there were originally four, but they weren't activated before, and now they're all activated?"
Lin Feng said in a deep voice, "Let's look at the cafeteria rules first."
Everyone immediately looked towards the door, but the wall was empty, without even a single sheet of paper with rules.
Just as everyone was wondering, a clear, cold voice suddenly came from the doorway, instantly silencing all the noise:
"Quiet."
Everyone looked up abruptly.
Xia Ning was already standing at the door at some point. She slowly walked into the Zhaixin Hall, her body rising more than a meter high, so that all the chosen ones could see her clearly.
Then, she raised her hand and pointed to the four windows lined up in a row, and said calmly:
"By a temporary resolution of the Temple Elders, the old rules of the Zhaixin Hall are hereby repealed, and a new set of rules shall be implemented immediately."
