Chapter 5 Suspicion
Chapter 5 Suspicion
Suddenly, a dragon and tiger jade ruyi appeared out of thin air and crashed into the three treasures jade ruyi.
The clang of metal against metal was so loud that soldiers on both sides covered their ears and fell to the ground. The three precious jade scepters dimmed their spiritual light and shot back.
At the same time, the golden light of immortals arrived first, shattering the grasping hand. The aftershocks dispersed the clouds, and Ju Liusun let out a muffled groan as his blood surged.
The Holy Mother of Golden Spirit stepped out of the void, her body surrounded by golden light, and her quasi-saintly aura locked down the entire area.
"Ju Liusun and Cihang Daoren, you two, as Golden Immortals of the Chan Sect, have secretly intervened in human conflicts, resorting to such despicable means..."
Her phoenix eyes held a murderous glint:
"Aren't you afraid of tarnishing the reputation of the Chan Sect?"
Ju Liusun and Cihang Daoren appeared, their faces ashen.
Just then, two streaks of light shot into the sky from Yuan Futong's camp, desperately fleeing westward and disappearing into the horizon in the blink of an eye.
Golden Spirit Mother narrowed her eyes, her expression darkening.
She recognized one of the spiritual energy fluctuations.
Suppressing her anger, she turned to the empty space beside her:
"Junior Brother Yun Zhongzi, things have come to this point, please show yourself."
Yun Zhongzi stepped out of the void, wearing a golden-white Taoist robe, with handsome features and an "awkward" expression.
"Junior Brother Yun Zhongzi, you witnessed what happened today. Please bear witness to it."
The Golden Spirit Mother's tone was icy:
"I fear that Liusun and Cihang Daoren have violated the alliance of the three religions, secretly interfered in human wars, and secretly aided the rebel army in the North Sea, intercepting the Emperor's general. I will personally go to Yuxu Palace to meet with my Uncle Yuanshi and ask him to give the Jie Sect justice."
Ju Liusun and Cihang Daoren exchanged a glance, their faces turning ashen.
Yun Zhongzi quickly cupped his hands in greeting, his face showing reluctance:
"Senior Sister Jinling, please calm down. Senior Brothers, please don't get angry either."
He paused, then sighed:
"The great calamity of the Investiture of the Gods is about to begin. Our master and Uncle Tongtian have long ago decreed that immortals and gods must not interfere in human wars. What you two senior brothers are doing... is indeed against the rules. If this were to reach the ears of the two sages, it would damage the prestige of our Daoist sect."
Every word he said was an attempt to reconcile, and every sentence was a testament to his point.
Ju Liusun was no fool; his face immediately flushed red, and he glared angrily at Yun Zhongzi:
"Yun Zhongzi! Why aren't you cultivating in seclusion on Zhongnan Mountain? What are you doing here in Beihai? What business is this of yours!"
Yun Zhongzi looked completely innocent and repeatedly cupped his hands in greeting:
"Senior brother, please calm down. The day before yesterday, after listening to the sermon at Yuxu Palace, I happened to see Senior Brother Yuding and Senior Brother Wenshu traveling together towards the North Sea. Senior Brother Yuding happened to have some refining materials that I needed, so he also came in this direction."
He paused, looking even more bewildered:
"Who knew I'd run into Senior Sister Jinling on the way, and be invited to be some kind of witness. I never expected to bump into my two senior brothers here. Absolutely unexpected!"
Ju Liusun and Cihang Daoist's expressions changed drastically.
Yesterday, the power that broke the pure glass bottle and saved Zhang Guifang was clearly the aura of Manjushri's divine power.
Are Manjushri and Yu Ding... secretly plotting something?
The two exchanged a glance and felt a chill rush straight to their Niwan Palace (a point on the back of the head).
The Holy Mother Jinling said no more, and with a flick of her fingertips formed a magic seal. A talisman condensed and transformed into a stream of light, hurtling towards Wen Zhong.
The talisman reads: "I will handle the matter of the Chan Sect myself; rest assured in quelling the rebellion. Immediately erase all traces of the Ten Heavenly Kings' actions, leaving no evidence whatsoever."
Having done all this, she waved her sleeve.
The pressure of the Quasi-Saint enveloped Ju Liusun and Cihang Daoren, and also dragged Yun Zhongzi into the fray.
"Junior Brother Yun Zhongzi, since you are a witness, please come with me to Yuxu Palace."
"It's all up to my senior sister."
Ju Liusun and his companion desperately tried to break free by channeling their spiritual power. However, the oppressive aura of the Golden Spirit Mother had already locked their primordial spirits, rendering them unable to mobilize even a fraction of their Golden Immortal cultivation.
Half an incense stick later.
In front of Yuxu Palace.
The White Crane Boy stood guard at the door. When he saw the group arrive, he was taken aback at first, then stepped forward and bowed.
"Disciple Baihe greets my fellow disciples."
Golden Spirit Mother got straight to the point: "I trouble you, my junior brother, to inform our second senior brother that Golden Spirit of the Jie Sect has important business to discuss with you."
The White Crane Boy looked troubled.
"Please forgive me, Uncle Jinling. My master went to the Eight Trigrams Palace outside the Thirty-Three Heavens half an hour ago to accept the invitation from my Supreme Uncle."
Ju Liusun and Cihang Daoren breathed a sigh of relief.
Beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens lies the edge of chaos. Innate gales howl fiercely, and chaotic malevolent energy rages. Even the Golden Spirit Mother, a quasi-saint, couldn't break through with three people whose cultivation was imprisoned.
The Holy Mother of Golden Spirit frowned.
Just then, a gentle yet profound spiritual energy fluctuation slowly emanated from within the Jade Void Palace.
A Taoist priest in a pale white robe, with a simple and ancient face, slowly walked out.
Everyone bowed in unison: "Greetings, Uncle-Master Randeng, and Teacher."
The Holy Mother Jinling also paid her respects. Randeng was one of the three thousand guests of Zixiao Palace, of the same generation as Yuanshi and Tongtian, so she had to show him considerable respect.
Yun Zhongzi lowered his head, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes.
Randeng's situation in the Chan Sect wasn't much better than his. He was a spirit lamp from the primordial era, not a disciple of Yuanshi Tianzun. He was invited to join the Chan Sect only because the Twelve Golden Immortals' cultivation was still low, and they used him to fill the middle ranks.
The Twelve Golden Immortals addressed him as "Teacher," but in reality, they didn't respect him at all. Guang Chengzi managed all affairs within the sect, large and small.
Over the years, Ran Deng has tried to win over the Twelve Golden Immortals. In this matter today, he will definitely protect Ju Liusun and Ju Liusun.
really.
After listening to the Golden Spirit Mother's account and examining the evidence of light and shadow, a hint of unease flashed across Ran Deng's eyes.
After a moment's hesitation, he cupped his hands and smiled, saying:
"Junior brother, please calm down. There must be a misunderstanding. Your two junior brothers did not intend to break the alliance. They must have seen the demonic aura soaring in the North Sea and mistakenly thought that there were evil spirits causing trouble, so they took action to test the waters."
He paused:
"In my humble opinion, it would be better to have my two junior brothers apologize to my nephew and offer some rare and precious treasures as a token of apology. This would settle the matter there, so as not to damage the harmony between the Chan and Jie sects and affect the grand plan of the Investiture of the Gods."
Ju Liusun and Cihang Daoren hurriedly descended the steps:
"We were confused for a moment, please forgive us, Senior Sister Jinling."
Golden Spirit Mother sneered.
"Should I apologize?"
The pressure of the Quasi-Saint was spread once again.
"If I had arrived a moment later, my disciple Wen Zhong's right-hand men would have already been slain by those two Golden Immortals on the battlefield. Uncle-Master Ran Deng knows the truth behind the North Sea rebellion. With such conclusive evidence, do you really think you can just dismiss it as a misunderstanding?"
She took a step forward:
"I respect you and will address you as 'Uncle-Master.' If you insist on taking sides..."
The dragon and tiger jade ruyi shines with great golden light.
"Please don't blame me for disrespecting my senior."
Ran Deng's expression changed.
Yun Zhongzi stood to the side, glancing at the two facing off out of the corner of his eye, his mind racing with calculations.
Randeng will surely protect Juliusun, and Jinling will certainly refuse to retreat. Yuanshi is not in the palace, and Randeng cannot suppress Jinling. If things really escalate...
He stepped forward, repeatedly cupped his hands in greeting, and looked visibly alarmed.
"Master, it's not that I'm being presumptuous. Our master has already decreed that during the Great Tribulation, immortals and gods are not allowed to interfere in human wars. If what you two senior brothers did today were to reach Uncle Tongtian's ears..."
He stopped halfway through his sentence.
The lamp's pupils constricted slightly.
Yun Zhongzi then turned to Jinling Shengmu and sighed:
"Senior sister, please don't be too angry. After all, your two senior brothers are Master's personal disciples..."
He stopped mid-sentence.
The two sentences, ostensibly advising for reconciliation, actually brought the issues of "causing trouble at Biyou Palace" and "the direct descendants of Yuanshi" into the open.
The look in Ran Deng's eyes as he looked at Yun Zhongzi had become colder.
He never expected that this marginal disciple, who had no presence in the Chan Sect, would be so stupid as to put him in such a dangerous situation with just one sentence.
To protect them would offend the Jie Sect. To not protect them would chill the hearts of the Twelve Golden Immortals.
The gentle expression on Ran Deng's face vanished completely.
"Fellow Daoist Jinling."
He no longer addressed his master as "nephew".
"I have already given you enough face, so don't push your luck."
With a flick of his sleeve, a ruler, pure white and covered with innate runes, appeared out of thin air.
Qiankun Ruler.
Golden Spirit Mother sneered, and offered up the Dragon Tiger Jade Ruyi, which burst forth with golden light.
The two quasi-saintly auras collided violently.
Auspicious clouds dispersed from the summit of Kunlun Mountain, celestial birds scattered, and the white jade steps in front of the hall cracked inch by inch.
